In aid of World Car Free Day (22nd September), Ealing Cycling Campaign are holding a bike ride beginning at Ealing Town Hall to Windsor. The group will meet at Ealing Town Hall at 9:45 for a 10:00 start and return approx. 16:00-16:30.
The planned route to Windsor will go via Osterley Park, Hounslow, Bedfont (refreshments), pass south of Heathrow, Stanwell, Horton, and Datchet. Return via Eton, part of the Jubilee River, Upton Court Park, Ditton Park, a pair of spiral ramps, Colnbrook, Longford, Harmondsworth, Harlington, and Cranford.
The route is mainly flat, with occasional bridges over a canal/railway/motorway/river/etc. Distance is about 64km/40 miles (compared with around 40km/25 miles on a Leisurely Ride). Speed on the flat will be about 16-19km per hour/10 to 12 miles per hour (compared with around 12km/8 miles per hour on a Leisurely Ride). You need to be of reasonable fitness to complete this ride
ECC recommend that if you do not wish to eat at a cafe/pub in Windsor, bring a packed lunch with you.
