How will you support clean air day in Ealing? Leave the car at home? Challenge yourself to cycle or use public transport for a month? Decide to organise a playstreet or school street for later in the year?
Global Action Plan’s website have lots of ideas and materials, both for schools and individuals, as well as details of local events organised by others for their annual clean air day. They explain:
“To breathe clean air every day we need to make rapid changes: like adopting electric vehicles, avoiding millions of car journeys, slashing industrial and construction emissions and stopping buying products that cause pollution in our homes. Air pollution causes heart and lung disease and results in over 36,000 people in the UK dying each year. Clean air is essential for our health, and the co-benefits of clean air measures are also good for our wellbeing as well as being good for the planet. Most people (90%) now report doing at least one thing to help reduce outdoor air pollution”.
Possible are calling on drivers to go car free for the entirety of July and are offering those taking part the possibility of winning a number of exciting prizes, including a Brompton bike! Get signed up here.
