Horsenden festival of Nature – 27 August 2022

Saturday 27 August: 12pm to 6pm: Horsenden Farm, Horsenden Lane North, Greenford, UB6 7PQ

Celebrate, discover and learn about the abundance of nature at Horsenden and enjoy this wonderful green space.

The first ever Horsenden Festival of Nature is taking place at Horsenden Farm on Saturday 27 August, 12pm till 6pm.  This free event is a celebration of nature with the aim of enthusing and encouraging the community to engage with nature and learn about the natural environment and biodiversity of Horsenden.

Horsenden has abundant habitats including meadows, ancient woodland, ponds, wetlands, hedgerows, and even a veteran orchard. Hundreds of species of plants and wildlife can be found here, from the majestic oaks that were planted as land markers many hundreds of years ago, to the wildflowers such as Dyers’ Greenweed, a yellow wildflower that’s rare in London and used to be used for dyeing cloth; to harvest mice that were introduced here in 2020 and have settled in successfully, and the huge variety of butterflies and moths that make Horsenden their habitat.

Throughout the day there will be activities such as forest school makes and displays for all the family to enjoy plus talks and excursions to the meadows, orchards and woodlands with our resident experts and volunteers.

Most will be free, but there will be a small charge for some.  Citizen Zoo, London Wildlife Trust, Ealing Wildlife Group, Friends of Horsenden Hill are among the stall holders, with others to be confirmed.

There’ll be live music throughout the day, beer from Perivale Brewery, pizza from the Horsenden Loaf, and home baked cakes and teas in the Hayloft.

This event is led by Friends of Horsenden Hill and Ealing Wildlife Group and supported by Horsenden Volunteers .

Horsenden Farm is close to Perivale underground station and the 297 bus route. Free street parking is available nearby. Parking on the site for the day is restricted to Blue Badge holders and exhibitors.
