Big Green Idea Competition

Inviting Ealing schools to enter their big green idea to win £1,000 to turn their idea into reality

Do you have an innovative idea to reduce carbon in your school? This is your chance to make a real difference and win £1,000 to bring your idea to life.

Who can enter

Open to primary, secondary and special schools that are state funded and located in the London Borough of Ealing – this includes academy trust schools.

Criteria

  • Be pupil led: the Green School Network wants to see pupils leading the project and learning what it takes to get a project off the ground
  • Carbon saving: for the idea to be green, it has to be cutting carbon in a way that can be measured and monitored
  • Accountable: the entry must explain how it will spend the £1,000 and how the idea could be replicated by other schools
  • Ready to film: to ensure others learn from the winning idea, the school must be prepared to contribute to a short film on the implementation of the idea
  • Agree to terms & conditions: by submitting an entry the entrant has read, understood and agreed to the terms and conditions of the competition which can be found here

How to enter

  • Submit a 1-minute video explaining your idea to contact@actforealing.org
  • ***EXTENDED DEADLINE*** Email your entry by 15 January 2025

Timeline

  • 15 January 2025: the deadline for entries
  • 30 January 2025: the winner will be announced
  • 26 May 2025 is the deadline for the winner to have to spent the £1k prize to implement their idea
  • 2 June 2025: the winner will help the Green School Network create a short film about what they have learned and achieved
  • 24 June 2025: the winning Big Green Idea will feature as a case study at the Green School webinar
  • Summer 2025: the Big Green Idea film will be shared throughout Ealing

  • A short film of your project will be made and shared throughout Ealing
