Try a bike before you buy

Want to try a bike before buying it? Mary ordered this bike and it was delivered this week by Peddle my wheels Try before you buy scheme.

Peddle my wheels have a wide selection of bikes you can choose from and you hire them by monthly payment, with a view to buy it or return it if it doesn’t suit you. Designed to encourage beginners, less experienced cyclists and those taking up cycling again the scheme is run in partnership with local London councils including Ealing. Peddle My Wheels is a social enterprise set up in 2014.

This bike is a nearly new Dawes Duchess at £30 per month. The scheme offers new, nearly new or pre-loved bikes (including hybrid, e-bikes and e-cargo bikes) all searchable on the website and an easy to order process.

Peddle my wheels supply all bikes with a helmet, lights and Kryptonite lock.  It was so easy to set up, just needed to take out insurance for the bike and choose a delivery date. You can trial it for a few months. If I like it you can buy it, with affordable purchase options and Cycle To Work collaborations available.

This is Mary’s first new bike in 30 years as she has been using her mum’s hand me down bikes and decided that as she commutes by bike regularly to her job in Acton a better bike was needed. Mary says “It’s great to be able to test drive the bike properly before buying it.”

Mary’s experience so far:

“I love the bike. The brakes and gears are a great improvement on my mum’s old bike. I need to get used to not overloading the basket at the front and need to transfer my back paniers for extra storage. That would mean the bike is balanced better as I have a tendency to overload the front basket! Impressed so far.”
