Learn about our ancient trees
Have you ever wondered what a veteran tree is? Vanessa Hampton, Park Manager at Boston Manor Park on Thursday 6th June 2024 at 6pm will explain all you could want to know about these ancient trees. She’ll explain why these trees are important to our heritage and wildlife. She’ll also discuss the challenges these important and unique trees face and how Boston Manor Park is preserving them.
This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and learn about the veteran and notable trees of Boston Manor Park. The talk takes place at Boston Manor House on Thursday 6th June 2024 at 6pm. To ensure that you don’t miss out on this evening of intrigue and interest, get your tickets here.
Doors for the talk in the State Drawing Room will open at 6:30pm. Ticket holders are welcome to arrive from 6:00pm and take time to visit the rest of the House. The House will also remain open for ticket holders for 30 minutes after the end of the talk (7:30pm-8:00pm).
Planting for future generations
Relaxing under the branches of a local veteran tree is such a privilege. To ensure this joy is something that can be treasured by future generations, ActFor Ealing has partnered with Ealing Council and the Ealing Learning Partnership to offer free trees to Ealing state-funded schools. All schools have do is apply using this link.
The deadline for applications is 31 August 2024. Schools can apply for up to ten trees each*. Ealing will even plant up to three trees per school in areas currently covered in concrete or tarmac. This will allow trees to reach new corners of Ealing, bringing shade, flood protection, pollution reduction, wildlife habitat and beauty to previously grey and lifeless school spaces.
With more school trees, more young people will learn how to care and nurture the veteran trees of the future. These will be trees their grandchildren will be able to enjoy and benefit from.
