Hire e-bikes and e-scooter rentals are available in Southall from July 2024, as the Ealing Borough scheme expands. The E-bike and e-scooter scheme is already successfully running in Ealing and Acton town centres, and further expansion plans include Northolt and Greenford by early 2025, allowing the whole borough to be accessible for rental e-bikes and e-scooters.
This is part of a London wide scheme, co-ordinated by Transport for London and each London borough council. The e-scooters are available from Voi and Lime. E-bikes are also available from Lime. These can be booked by downloading and registering with the Voi app and Lime app depending on which you want to hire. For more information see hiring an e-bike in Ealing.

E-scooters rental
Rental electric scooters (e-scooters) are the only way to legally ride an e-scooter on public roads or in other public places within London. This is available in some London boroughs. Read more on the Electrical scooters TFL scheme.
These rental e-scooters have specific safety features installed. For example, they have a limit of a speed of 12.5mph and other speed reductions if in parks and other designated areas. They also have lights that are always on throughout any rental.
It is illegal to use privately owned e-scooters or other powered transporters on public roads. The current rental e-scooter trial in Southall is helping Ealing council test the best ways to provide a system that works for the public as a whole.
E-bikes

This is such a great move for Southall and the wider Ealing area! Expanding e-bike and e-scooter rentals makes getting around so much easier and more sustainable. Plus, the free ride codes are a nice incentive to give them a try. I love that London is embracing these eco-friendly options more—hopefully, this sets the stage for even more areas to follow suit!
