For more advice see Ealing Repair cafe on how to extend the life of school uniform.
Why pass uniform on?
The cost of school uniform can be a burden to parents, yet many children grow out of their uniform long before it reaches the end of its life. A poll by Sainsbury’s revealed that a child will wear an average of 480 items of uniform clothing over the course of their school days. This results in parents will spend about £6,000 in total on school uniform. By taking and donating second hand uniform we are:
- extending the life of school uniform
- saving money
- reducing textile waste and cutting carbon that contributes to climate change.
For more information on the issues with clothing and what we can do, see our article on Why Sustainable Fashion Matters. Also find out more about the second hand clothing market with Sustainable Fashion: Why Quality Donations Matter?
By donating and taking this school uniform will help make this school year easier and greener for Ealing families.
Drop off school uniform on the day, or at one of our drop off points listed here School Uniform project. The Ealing community has been very generous with their donations. It is these donations that make these events such a success. So a big thank you to all that has donated, as many families will be helped by this generosity.
