Wassailing the trees at Gunnersbury for a good harvest – Saturday 20th January 2024

On Saturday 20th January 2024, celebrate the ancient tradition of ‘Wassailing’ in Gunnersbury’s very own orchard. The purpose of Wassailing is to encourage the spirits into ensuring a good harvest the following season. It takes place on the twelfth night after Christmas and involves a visit to a nearby orchard for singing, dancing, drinking and general merrymaking. Find out more Wassailing History: ritual and revelry from the National Trust.

There will be hot drinks, apple cake (included in the ticket price) and storytelling before they wake up the magical spirits of the fruit trees and wish for a good year to come.

This event is open for all the family. Warm clothing necessary and wear something green if you wish.
