Acton Reduce and Recycle hub returns on Saturday 3rd February to Acton Market for first time in 2024. The hub will be at Acton market from 10 am until 3 pm with lots of great organisations and businesses there to help people in Acton to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The Acton Reduce and Recycle hub is a monthly event at Acton Saturday Market to help local residents Reduce and Recycle on the first Saturday of the month funded by the lottery Climate Action Fund. The hub wants to encourage residents to think about what they consume, by using and wearing items for as longer, reducing how much they waste, reusing items more and when they no longer need them, recycle them.
Reduce and Recycle Activities
Come along anytime between 10 am and 3 pm where you can at the monthly Reduce and Recycle hub at MarketW3:
RECYCLE:
Bring along your old and unloved:
- Clothing & Shoes
- Small electrical appliances
- Get advice from ActforEaling at their Recycling challenge
- Find out more and support about innovative Cultivate London innovative Green Waste project set to launch near Acton Town.
REPAIR:
- Bring along your mending pile for advice and Ealing Repair Cafe will teach you how to mend your favourite clothes. They will also be making upcycled draft excluder from an old pair of jeans. Draft Excluders are great for keeping the warm in and heating bills low. The team will be helping anyone who wants to come along and make one. www.ealingrepaircafe.org
- Get your Bikes checked with Dr Bike (2 pm-5 pm)
REUSE:
- Book Swap: Bring books along and/or take a book, with Churchfield Community Association
- Sharpen your kitchen and garden tools with Renew Sharpening.
- Shop for pre-loved, returns and seconds clothing from the high street stores at reduced prices.
Plus other great organisations will be at the hub:
- Mindfood will be giving away seeds and talking about their growing and mindful courses they run to reconnect you with nature and improve your mental health
- Ealing Repair Cafe will be providing materials for anyone who wants to come along and make a free upcycled draft excluder. Draft Excluders are great for keeping the warm in and heating bills low. The team will be helping anyone who wants to come along and make one. (10am to 4pm)

Reduce and Recycle Hub successes
At the Reduce and Recycle hub in 2023 we have:
- 447kg of unwanted clothes and shoes saved from landfill by Traid, which reduced carbon emissions (CO2) by 8.40 tonnes and water savings of 711m3.
- 138 kgs of small electrical items collected which will be recycled.
