On Sunday 7th July, Northfields Allotments are opening their gates to the public for a day, and inviting the local community to enjoy the allotment site. There will be tea, homemade cakes, a BBQ and a bar; you can buy plants and fruit grown on the site, as well as jams and preserves made by our plot-holders with fruit from their plots. Gates will open at 1pm and the event will run until 5pm.
Take a peek into the WW2 Anderson shelter, look around the restored vintage sheds, and get some inspiration for growing your own vegetables, fruit and flowers.
Northfields Allotment is one of the oldest allotments in London, having been founded in 1832 (you can see some of the site history here). Since 2016 the allotments have been recognised as an Asset of Community Value and a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation. Today the site is important not just for growing local produce, but also as one of Ealing’s and green spaces providing a refuge for nature of people alike!
