The Acton Market Reduce and Recycle Hub and ReActon are having their first pre-loved free School uniform Swap at Acton Market. Drop off your children’s old and too small uniform on the next two Fridays and pick up replacements on Saturday 5 October where you can take up to 3 items from the uniform swap shop.
Drop off your children’s old uniform
Acton Reduce and Recycle Hub and ReActon will be collecting old uniform. Please drop your donations of old clean uniform to at Acton Market, The Mount, W3, from 10am to 3pm on:
- Friday 27th September: Donation drop of only
- Friday 4th October: Donation drop of only
On these days you will not be able to swap clothes, so come back on Saturday 5th to get uniform, up to 3 items.

Free Uniform swap
On Saturday 5th October from 10 am to 3 pm, you will be able to look through the donations and choose 3 items to take home with you for your children.
They accept only the following items:
- Primary and secondary school unbranded core uniform items and sportswear, including footwear and school bags.
- Items that are hand-me-down quality clean and washed.

October Reduce and Recycle Hub
The usual activities of the Reduce and Recycle hub will also be at the monthly October Reduce and Recycle hub at MarketW3 with an inspiring selection of organisations. They will help you to reduce our waste, by recycle, as well as repair and reuse at Acton Market and beyond.
RECYCLE:
Bring along your old and unloved:
- Clothing, Shoes and accessories (10am – 2pm) Donations for TRAID charity http://www.traid.org.uk/wlwa
- Small electrical appliances (10am – 2pm). These must be small –small enough to fit in a shopping bag to TRAID, see details www.traid.org.uk
- Ealing Waste Team collecting for Terracycle:
- Pringle Tubes with the metal bases only
- Biscuits and Snacks wrappers: All brands of plastic biscuit wrappers, all brands of plastic cake wrappers and all brands of plastic cracker wrappers (Not included is recycle paper or foil wrappers)
- Coffee bean and ground coffee pouches and sachets (No coffee capsules or coffee grounds). Recycle cardboard packaging at the Ealing doorstep collection.
- Bulk bags of tea bags and loose leaf tea packs: Recycle cardboard packaging at the Ealing doorstep collection and teabags in food waste doorstep collection. No individual tea bag sachets.
- Plastic toothbrushes and electric toothbrush heads: Plus electric flosser nozzles, flossing sticks and interdental brushes and dental floss containers. (Not collecting battery or electric toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, dental floss)

REPAIR:
- Learn to fix your Clothes with Ealing Repair Café http://www.ealingrepaircafe.org
- Get your Bikes checked with with ReActon and Dr Bike (2 pm-5 pm)
- Discounted bike service also available from ReActon. You pay for only for the parts needed. No labour to pay for, you simple pay for parts. Get your bike running smoothly again for less than half of what you’d usually pay!
- Sharpen your Garden and Kitchen tools: Contact RenewSharpening on 07860 518576 and speak to Dave. He can sharpen your Garden and Kitchen tools. Dave is unlikely to be able to attend the hub. He is available in the week to collect items to be sharpened.
- Fix your watch straps and replace your batteries with our Trader TJ Singh.
REUSE:
Let’s get reusing and swapping with these great organisations:
- Buy an upcycled bike: ReActon will be selling a fantastic selection of high-quality pre-loved bikes for both adults and kids. All the bikes come with a three month warranty. ReActon also offers Free Tyre Checks and chain checks.
- Book Swap: Bring a book and take a book, with Churchfield Community Association
- Grab a preloved bargain at our stall holders many who sell returns and seconds from the high street at a reduced price choose from sportswear, womenswear and menswear.
GROWING & Connecting to Nature
- Cultivate London will be on site with seeds and plants to take away. They also will share information about their Acton Green composting project and tell you how to get involved https://www.spacehive.com/acton-green-waste-solutions
Come along to Reduce and Recycle hub and join the growing community of people who are helping Acton reduce, reuse and recycle more. While you are there grab a bargain from one of their traders as many sell end of line stock or returns, knowing you will be helping reducing waste as well as saving money.

The Acton Market Reduce and Recycle hub recently featured on BBC London news, see it here London market recycling hub hoping to reduce waste. The hub and its dedicated volunteers have been nominated for a BBC Radio London Make a Difference award. They will find out next Wednesday 25 September if they have won the Green Award.
