What impact has AfE achieved since its first meeting in Autumn 2020 and launching in Autumn 2021?
Taking an idea to online reality
ActForEaling was created in the midst of Covid by a group of eco-active locals. The group met online and slowly expanded to a proper little team. Work began on establishing how best to support and amplify the incredible organisations and individuals in Ealing who were tackling climate change and promoting biodiversity. What value could ActForEaling bring to this vibrant and dynamic community? How could ActForEaling have a positive impact?
Thanks to fortnightly video meetings, the group soon developed a website. Pioneering partners signed up and the word started to spread about Ealing’s new eco-hub.
Nick, Chair of ActForEaling commented, “Looking back, it’s quite incredible to see how a small group of individuals, who had not actually met each other in person, quickly became a team thanks to their shared passion for a greener future.”
Launch into real life
By Autumn 2021, the group was ready to officially launch with ActForEaling’s first event. This was a photography competition celebrating photos of local climate action and nature restoration. Thanks to a brilliant collaboration with Northfields Camera Club, the judges had dozens of entries to review.
No sooner had the photography competition launched, ActForEaling collaborated with Ealing Broadway to host a community painted mural in celebration of COP26 (which ActForEaling attended). Dozens of locals came to help paint the mural and celebrate the incredible eco-possibilities of the community.
Natalie, ActForEaling Steering Group member recollects, “It was the community mural painting that made me realise just how much local people wanted to get involved in eco-positive action. Being able to meet new people, try new things and achieve bigger goals together created this incredible motivating force for good.”

Since Autumn 2021, ActForEaling now has a partnership base of over 45 organisations. It has also engaged over 2,000 people in action supporting climate and biodiversity. ActForEaling has developed some incredible collaborations that have made big campaigns like the Biodiverse Gardens Competition, Cut the Cr@p, EalingSewnUp and the Green School Network possible.
Thank you
So to celebrate ActForEaling’s 4th birthday, the organisation has created an impact report to demonstrate everything that has been achieved. It’s also a perfect moment for ActForEaling to wholeheartedly thank its partners, collaborators, volunteers and supporters. It’s been an incredible journey of achieving incredible impact for climate and biodiversity. It truly is a story of what can be achieved when a community comes together!
Bring on the next 4 years!
