Come to Ealing Broadway shopping centre for Fix It Friday on Friday 7 March from 3pm until 6 pm. Fix it Friday is a free community event focused on repair in Ealing and sustainability for London Repair week.

Why Repair?

We live in a world where discarding broken items has become second nature. Research conducted by Imperial College London in 2024, and published by ReLondon, reveals a startling reality: Londoners threw away £1.9 billion worth of repairable items in 2023. That’s an average of over £250 worth of items per adult!

Repairing isn’t just about saving money, it’s also about reducing waste and combating climate change. By repairing your belongings instead of replacing them, you’re helping to cut down on the 1.9 billion tonnes of waste generated globally each year.

London Repair Week is a celebration of repair where you are invited to gain repair skills, fall back in love with your stuff. This will help save some money and the planet while you’re at it! With numerous workshops happening around London including this brilliant repair event in Ealing. The website has tips and tricks to help you repair your stuff.

They are on a mission to increase STEM uptake and tackle the e-waste crisis, using the magic of repair. They will bring their children’s repair kits along to encourage repair in Ealing starting them young.

Kids love taking broken things apart and seeing how they work. We created Team Repair to share these experiences and show kids how fun science, tech, and engineering can be. They will be at Fix it Friday with their repair kits which are designed to teach kids how to fix everyday items.

Team Repair offer school repair kits and also at home repair kits. These kits introduce stem activities to children and the possibility of repairing items by themselves. Their school 12 week programme will take students from first-time fixers to tech wizards, perfect for completion across a school term. This covers 4 different gadget repairs across 12 sessions.
