What is a tiny forest?

Tiny Forest is a dense, fast-growing, native woodland made up of 600 trees planted in a tennis court-sized plot. They are an attractive location for wildlife and are great for people to enjoy as well and can provide a range of benefits in the fight against climate change.

84% of the UK population now live in urban areas. While urbanisation is increasing, UK urban green space is on an alarming downward trend. This means that people living in urban spaces have less and less access to the natural world. So these tiny forests bring the benefits of woodland into our cities and provide access to connect with natural world.

Earthwatch Europe, are working with Ealing Council to establish this Tiny Forest at Hanger Hill Park, Ealing.

Since 2020, Earthwatch has worked with partners and communities across the UK to plant over 200 Tiny Forests – bringing the benefits of a forest right into the heart of our cities and urban spaces.
