ACTONE Cinema – A screening of POWERSTATION on Thursday 9th October 2025

On Thursday 9th October 2025, ActOne is screening POWERSTATION, a film focussing on two artists in Walthamstow who set out to take their street off the grid, and kickstart a solar-powered energy revolution. Dan Edelstyn one of the artists behind the Power Station project and co-director of the film will be attending the screening and available after for a live Q&A.

Inspired by lockdown mutual aid initiatives, artist-activists Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn decided to turn their street into an energy-generating powerhouse – a prototype for a new way of living, with the hope of galvanising a wider push towards sustainable alternatives.

Directed by the duo, POWER STATION charts their turbulent journey, from pitching the idea to their neighbours and sleeping on the roof of their home to raising finance and launching a bid for a Christmas number one single.

By turns funny and heartwarming, Powell and Edelstyn’s film is a vibrant portrait of their local neighbourhood, and a charming testament to the power of art in changing minds about what could be possible.

The screening of POWERSTATION starts at 7.45pm. Please note that there are no ads and trailers before the film, so please arrive on time. More details of the film are here, along with booking information.

ActOne Footprints film strand

This film is part of ActOne’s FOOTPRINTS film strand that runs on a regular basis. This is a fascinating series of screenings, discussions and Q&As that tackle environmental issues and climate colonialism. Films often focus on their disproportionate effects on indigenous peoples and people of the Global Majority.
