Planting a tree in your garden or in your local community can make a big difference for wildlife. Trees provide homes, food and shelter for a wide range of wildlife in the form of flowers, berries, leaves and woody matter, as well as serving as a structure for nesting. They also mitigate climate change effects by absorbing carbon from the atmosphere, reducing air pollution and preserving water sources.
Their springtime blossom to provide pollen and nectar for pollinating insect species.

Tiny forests of Ealing

Earthwatch has planted various Tiny Forests in the area. Find out where they are by visiting Our Tiny Forests Map. Tiny Forests is a dense, fast-growing, native woodland made up of 600 trees planted in a tennis court-sized plot. They are not only an attractive location for wildlife  but are great for people to enjoy as well and can provide a range of benefits in the fight against climate change.

84% of the UK population now live in urban areas. While urbanisation is increasing, UK urban green space is on an alarming downward trend. This means that people living in urban spaces have less and less access to the natural world. So these tiny forests bring the benefits of woodland into our cities and provide access to connect with natural world.

Since 2020, Earthwatch has worked with partners and communities across the UK to plant over 200 Tiny Forests – bringing the benefits of a forest right into the heart of our cities and urban spaces.
