What is London Climate Action Week?
London Climate Action Week (LCAW) is a week-long series of events organised by volunteers, charities, policy makers, universities, experts, community organisations, religious organisations, local councils, and companies – indeed anyone interested in hosting an event that draws attention to the need for action to address the climate and ecological emergencies.
The week aims to demonstrate the whole of society engagement needed to support the delivery of decarbonisation and resilience as well as stimulate other global cities to host similar events.
When is it taking place?
It takes place between Saturday 20th June and Saturday 28th June, with various events taking place across the capital at different times and venues.
What kind of events are suitable?
Panel discussions, digital campaigns, exhibitions, film screenings, repair cafes, raffles, fund raisers, announcements on commitments to climate action, greenspace celebrations: all of these and more. The choice of format is open to event organisers to design as appropriate to their desired outcomes. Events can be public or private, free or paid for.
How to take part?
LCAW allows you to register your event as part of the week-long campaign. Details of your event will then appear on the LCAW event map and website, attracting more attention. You can register details of your event with the London Climate Action Week link here:
Are there any requirements for events?
There are few barriers to participation – LCAW ask that event organisers align with the ethos of what they are co-creating. All voices are welcome, but events that benefit from the sponsorship or direct financial support of businesses, organisations or groups that are antagonistic to the need for climate action and a net zero future are frowned upon. London Climate Action Week is intended to be collaborative and inclusive, ambitious, and solutions focused. More information is available at the FAQs here:
