People’s Emergency Briefing Petition – Please sign and write to your MP

In June’s London Climate Action Week, ActForEaling, Ealing Transition, and the University of West London UWL put on a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing. It was a week of extraordinarily high temperatures and, it turns out, just the beginning of the summer’s continuous series of heatwaves.

Chris Packham, one of the presenters of the film, has a petition on the government website asking for the film to be shown nationally. Do you have 2 minutes to sign? The more people who sign, the stronger the message sent to government.

And the petition page states:

“A credible national briefing from independent experts would give people clear, trusted guidance on what these risks mean in practice, and what we can do – both together and individually – to prepare and respond”.

One of the aims of the People’s Emergency Briefing was to spark debate and secure a nationwide broadcast of the film, and a serious, briefing style report from the government on the risks that climate change poses to our security.

Signing the petition would be a great way of showing your support for the team behind the film and for spreading its message.

Westminster Hall debate on Biodiversity Loss

On 3 September, there will also be a Westminster Hall debate on Biodiversity Loss.

According to the Zero Hour website this will be the first time the new cabinet will answer the key questions on climate and nature in a debate, and will be an opportunity to discuss the Global Biodiversity Loss, Ecosystem Collapse and National Security Report released in January 2026.
