The Pitshanger Bookshop has been on leafy Pitshanger Lane for about 30 years, and is very much part of the community. It has a loyal base of regular customers, is supportive of local authors, has strong links with local schools, sponsors the Ealing Symphony Orchestra & the Ealing Choral Society, and donates prizes for a variety of school and Church fundraising events. We offer a range of about 7000 books, a selection of cards and gifts, and can offer a further 250,000 book titles for next day delivery. As much as possible, the bookshop is run in an ethical and environmentally friendly way, stocking a range of books for both adults and children on environmental matters and living a green life. In line with government legislation, we charge 10 pence for plastic bags, donating the proceeds to Meadow House Hospice; the bookshop has a 100% recycling rate and is certified as having avoided 0.92 tonnes of carbon in the last year by recycling responsibly. Where possible, we stock recyclable wrapping paper, offer paper bags for shopping, and avoid greeting cards wrapped in cellophane. Ealing is a wonderful place to live and work, but we hope to contribute to its evolution as a greener and more sustainable borough.
