Family Fun at ReActon: Reuse and Repair Event

Come along for a fun, family-friendly day of reuse and repair event with ReActon at Stirling Road. On Saturday 7 March 2026 from 11 am -2 pm, join in with reusing and repairing as part of London Repair Week.

ReActon focuses on reducing our waste, looking at how we can reuse and repair. Collectively, we have to need to move away from buying more stuff. Together, food, textiles, and manufactured products account for nearly 50% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The old approach of ‘take-make-dispose’ is the major cause of inequality, greenhouse gases, and mountains of waste. It’s destroying our planet, polluting our water, and shattering biodiversity. So come along to ReActon and get inspiration.

Two in three (64%) people in the UK say they have spent around £277 a year replacing items they think could have been repaired, according to new research published ahead of Repair Week 2026. So lets get repairing what we already have.

ReActon Reuse and Repair Event

Date: Saturday 7 March 2026
Where: ReActon, Stirling Road, Acton, W3 8DJ

School Uniform Free Shop and Swap

With the summer term approaching the children will be moving over to their summer uniform. We have a wide range of branded and unbranded items from primary and high schools around the Ealing borough. You are welcome to take up to 4 items for free for each child from the swap.

School Uniform free shop and swap

We want school uniforms that are washed, clean and in good condition. However, it is not essential that you bring items, you can take up to 4 school uniform items.

Please also donate school uniform and clothes hangers that you no longer want. If you can’t make the event, please drop it off either or both at one of our collection points.

Our Ealing School Uniform Swap so far since August 2025 has:

  • 265 families have taken over 800 school uniform items which are back in use. The swap saved over 1980 kg of carbon and 333,600 litres of water. This is because making clothes takes large amounts of energy and water to make. The water saved is equivalent to what 370 people will drink in water for a year!*
  • Over 2.5k items of primary and high school uniform donated to our project. Thanks to all who have donated.

The School Uniform Free shop will be open from 11 am -2 pm. This project helps families save money and by wearing our clothes for longer we can reduce waste.

Join Ealing Repair cafe who will teach you how to mend your clothes and textiles.

They have equipment and scrap fabric to get your started, so bring along 1 or 2 items and they can guide you through mending your clothes.

This is a free service funded by Ealing Council, where Colin will carry out minor repairs on the spot and give advice on how to look after your bike to keep you riding all year round. If you cant get along on the day, see Free Dr Bike checks in Ealing 2026: Get Your Bike checked.

Free household paint for DIY projects

Each year it is estimated that 50 million litres of paint goes to waste in the UK. This leftover paint is either thrown away or stored in homes or garages despite over 50% of it still being usable.

Come along to ReActon and take free household paint donated locally.

If you have paint you don’t want, take it to Greenford Road reuse and recycling centre. Book a slot to drop the paint off and any other items you want to recycle.

This paint is part of the Community RePaint project. Their mission is to make use of this wasted paint by offering a solution for leftover paint and making it available for reuse.

Book swap

Take a book for free or leave one for somebody else to enjoy, or do both at our book swap.

We have a great choice of children’s and adult books. It’s a simple and money saving way to get a good read. Either bring along any books that you no longer want and take away some inspiring books or do both. We want more books kept in circulation and being read.

Recycling in the garden and greenspaces

Cultivate London will be showing you the value of leaf mould, how we can use our green waste produced by a bio-digester to fertilise the garden. They will also have a wormery to illustrate recycling in action. Plus seeds to swap.
