Projects that address climate change or nature restoration

ActforEaling aim is to boost local action to combat climate change and restore nature and biodiversity with the support of the council. Some ideas for inspiration of projects you could create:

  • Rain gardens: Establish rain gardens around Hanwell. These help the climate by reducing surface water flooding and improves resilient to heavy rainfall.
  • Pollinator Corridors: Create a connected route of pollinator-friendly planting from the canal to local parks and green spaces.
  • Community orchard: Plant fruit trees in suitable community locations.

These project ideas to inspire but there will be other projects that could be applied for that helps combat climate change and restore nature.

What is ‘Your Voice, Your Town’?

Your Voice, Your Town (YVYT) is an approach to supporting community-led change across the 7 towns of Ealing. This approach is built on a simple principle: communities already have the ideas, skills, assets and relationships needed to improve their neighbourhoods. The council can enable the conditions in which those strengths can flourish.

Your Voice, Your Town (YVYT) brings residents, businesses, faith and community organisations, and a representative group of councillors together to improve their area and make great things happen. The approach works to unlock the skills, energy, and potential in each town to take action on the things local people care most about.

It is led by the community, with support from Ealing Council.

What is the Community Fund?

To support and catalyse community-led change, Town Teams have launched Community Funds to make a difference to local priorities. In 2025/2026, Town Teams across the borough supported 77 ideas, with over £418,000 to catalyse community-powered change.

The Town Teams across the borough have now opened a new round of community funding to address local priorities and support local action. In 2026/2027, £480,000 has been provided across all the Towns. Each Town has been allocated a specific amount of funding within that, which you can read below.

Hanwell’s, Your Town, Your Future Fund is a £40,000 community fund (a pot of money) to support ideas to focus on one or more of the areas:

  • Help local people share knowledge and skills
  • Take action to make Hanwell greener and cleaner
  • Bring people together and increase connection, especially between different generations and age groups
  • Revitalise places and spaces in Hanwell.

Why Apply?

They help build stronger relationships, improve local environments, create opportunities for learning and volunteering, and strengthen pride in place. This fund is an opportunity to bring local creativity, passion and expertise together to benefit the wider community.
