Congratulations to Lager Can (the Litter Action Group for Ealing Residents) who have received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS). The QAVS is an annual award that is equivalent to an MBE and awarded to voluntary groups for their exceptional service to the community. The continued hard work of LAGER Can and their dedicated members to clear litter from sites across from Ealing make them deserved winners.
The group has grown exponentially over the past year with membership initially rising from 375 members to 800 in four months, LAGER Can now boast over 1,800 members. This base of members have so far volunteered over 13,736 hours, enough to fill over 28,605 sacks of litter. It is this work that makes it easy to see why the group were awarded with such a prestigious prize! It is great to see the amazing work being done by community groups in Ealing being recognised on a national level- a real local success story!
