Southall Transition is screening “The Seeds of Vandana Shiva,” a documentary highlighting her work in ecological and social justice on Sunday 28th April at 6.00 pm.
Vandana Shiva is a modern-day revolutionary, and for forty years has been fighting a heroic battle on behalf of humanity and the ecologically besieged natural systems that support us. However, she is opposed by powerful multinational corporations invested in continuing their degenerative but lucrative agricultural practices. A classic David versus Goliath tale, the film shows how Vandana, a brilliant scientist, became Monsanto’s worst nightmare and a rock star of the international organic food movement.
Within communities dedicated to organic food and farming, climate change, biodiversity, seed sovereignty, globalisation, and social justice, Vandana Shiva stands as an icon of a worldwide movement.

Combining her scientific expertise with Gandhian principles of non-violent resistance, Vandana has stood alongside impoverished Indian villagers, whose livelihoods are under siege from corporate capitalism. She challenges corporations whose relentless pursuit of privatisation and profit wreak havoc on the environment and precipitate climate change.
