Last chance to apply for brand-new, family-friendly, green jobs across the borough

Ealing Council partners with Sustainability Managers for Schools C.I.C. (“SMS”) to create new school Sustainability Manager green jobs across the borough

Boosting sustainability with new green jobs

Thanks to a pioneering partnership with Ealing Council, SMS has begun recruitment for three Sustainability Managers to work in three state-funded schools around Ealing. These new green jobs will be part-time and term-time only. The roles are perfect for anyone balancing family-life with hopes of an interesting job. The deadline to apply for these Sustainability Manager roles is 23:59 Tuesday 4 June.

Natalie Bayliss, SMS Founding Director highlights, “We’re looking for the “do-ers” of the communities around Ealing. The kind of people who see a challenge and gather a community together to solve it. We want people with practical skills and hands-on experience. No specific qualifications are necessary. SMS will provide all the training and support to make sure successful applicants are able to support schools to become more sustainable.”

UK schools must become more sustainable

The Department for Education (“DfE”) expects all schools to have a climate action plan and someone responsible for that plan in place by 2025.

Nicole McGregor, Senior Health Improvement Officer at the Ealing Learning Partnership said, “Schools are busy places with conflicting priorities. Through the Green School Network teachers have told us that they don’t have the time, capacity or the training to deliver on the eco-targets required by the government. . The SMS programme solves this challenge.

Developing green skills

The SMS programme will help young people develop the skills they will need to access the green jobs of the future. As well as upskilling future generations, SMS will train the new Sustainability Managers with green skills that will benefit entire school communities. Ealing will become a heartland for employees and entrepreneurs able to meet the challenges of the future.
