On Your Bike – National Bike Week June 10-16

National Bike Week, the UK’s largest annual event for raising awareness about cycling, celebrates its many benefits. It’s a time to appreciate how cycling enhances our health and wellbeing while positively impacting our communities and the environment. This year, Cycling UK is showcasing cycling as a powerful force for good. Every cyclist inspires others to start cycling, leading to happier, healthier, greener, and more connected communities.

How you can get involved in National Bike week?

  • Swap a short local journey with a bike ride, one that you would normally make by car
  • Take the kids out for a bike ride, consider cycling to school with them
  • Register for a cycle course with Cycling Training, more details below
  • Pop along to the Walk and Wheel hub W3 in Acton that will build your confidence in cycling
  • Encourage friends to join you on a bike ride
  • Join a Bike Week event here events
  • Trial a bike from Peddle my wheels
  • Inspire others, post a selfie, or pictures of your bike ride or journey on social media. Use the hashtags #BikeWeekUK and #BikeHero

Be it walking, wheeling or scooting to school, running or cycling to work, or any everyday journey that we do to get from place to place, active travel can offer a convenient, accessible and affordable way to move more. Bike Hero this Bike Week

FREE insurance for National Bike Week

For peace of mind and to safeguard both yourself and your cycling gear, it’s wise to explore specialist cycling insurance. Standard home and travel insurance policies frequently lack adequate coverage for your bikes. Cycling Training

Get free Cycle Training for Adult Individuals, Families and Children from Cycling instructor in partnership with Ealing Council. They provide FREE Cycle Training to adults and families that want to learn how to safely cycle together. Completing the form and they will organise a Cycle Training session for you, your family or friends. Or pop along to the Walk and Wheel hub W3 for cycling support.

Dr Bike for Free cycle repairs

Dr Bike Cycle Instructor mechanics will be able to check everything on your bike from wheels, brakes, gears to racks, pedals and saddles. All mechanics have a wealth of cycling knowledge and will fix any minor adjustments necessary. For any major adjustments they cannot fix, they will advise riders what needs to be done. There is no need to book, just turn up in good time and queue. Full schedule for Ealing dates.

Dockless E-bikes

Not everyone has access to a bike, feel fit enough for cycling and you might not want to invest in one, especially if you’re only starting out. This is what’s great about dockless e-bikes schemes such as Lime. Check our our guide Dockless E-Bikes: Sustainable Transport Solution in Ealing.

Lime is offering free e-bike training through Bikeworks in Ealing and the next session is

Apply to become a Cycle Friendly Employer or get your organisation to apply. This award demonstrates to employees and customers that your organisation takes seriously its commitment to combatting climate change, improving staff well-being and providing alternative transport solutions.

Entrants are assessed on their cycle-friendly culture, infrastructure and policies. Successful nominees access bespoke, ongoing support from Cycling UK and join our prestigious network of cycle friendly employers. Our accredited businesses are putting their staff and the environment first. We know many of you are too, and we’d love to see that recognised.
