CUT THE CRAP, our inspirational exhibition on how to reduce waste is moving to Northolt Leisure Centre from 4th September until 25th September. It highlights the huge damage that waste does to the environment, nature, wildlife and us. More importantly, it also gives us solutions on how to reduce waste in Northolt and look after our precious resources better.
Pledge to reduce waste in Northolt
Make a pledge at Northolt Leisure Centre in September to reduce the waste we produce.
Plus you can share your own tips on reducing waste or contact us with your suggestions.

Put a token in the bottles to pledge to:
- REDUCE: I pledge to buy naked fruit and vegetables (not wrapped in plastic)
- REPAIR: I pledge to repair my clothes when they have a rip or tear
- RECYCLE: I pledge to recycle my soft plastics at a supermarket
Waste is a problem
Cut the Crap is a pop-up exhibition centred on reducing waste, that will be touring the seven towns of Ealing. ActForEaling’s Enid Barron was inspired to take action and created the CUT THE CRAP exhibition. This is her response to the huge amount of rubbish we generate in the UK. She is calling upon Ealing residents to take urgent action to reduce waste.
‘Everyone in Ealing can do something about this,’ says Enid, affectionately known as ‘Eco Granny’ and a stalwart member of ActForEaling.
Instead of consuming so much, we can, as individuals, make different choices, opting to reduce and reuse instead. The ActFor Ealing visit to the Materials Reprocessing Facility (MRF) in Crayford, which sorts our borough’s recycling, inspired us to spread the message that recycling is not enough. No matter how well our MRF functions, repurposing 48.89% of household waste, the huge volume of rubbish is staggering.
The CUT THE CRAP exhibition will travel to libraries, community centres and other public spaces. The exhibition offers ideas on how to reduce waste in Ealing and thus help ourselves and others.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Cut the Crap also stresses the importance of reducing and reusing items, to trim the trash and making recycling a lesser priority. With lots of creative solutions to try, CUT THE CRAP will inspire you to think about what you consume and reduce your waste. Solutions include:
- Ealing Repair Cafe where you can learn how to mend your clothes
- Library of things Ealing where you can borrow instead of buying, reducing consumption.
- Reduce and Recycle hub monthly event at Acton Market
- LoveFoodHateWaste for lots of suggestions on how to reduce the food we waste
