Reduce Plastic Waste: Swap Costumes This Halloween

Get swapping with a free Halloween costume swap at Acton Market on Friday 25th October. Drop off donations at one of the collection points and find a great costume for this Halloween. The scary truth from Hubbub is an estimated 7 million Halloween costumes are thrown away every year, adding to 2,000 tonnes of plastic waste. That’s the same as 83 million plastic bottles. So lets get swapping and swishing this Halloween and reduce plastic waste.

Acton Market Halloween Swap

Acton Reduce and Recycle hub are collecting donations of clean, wearable costumes and accessories in various locations around Acton and Ealing until 24th October. There is a collect donation box in ActOne Cinema & Café , in the seating area! Please feel free to drop off items during the cinemas opening hours!

We all have costumes that are too small or you have grown bored of, so please pass them on. They are looking for outfits and accessories that are clean. Drop off costumes at the following pop up drop off places in and around Acton and Ealing until Thursday 24th.

Lets aim for a low waste Halloween in 2024. This waste is down to single use Halloween costumes which end up in landfill. Add to that the plastic sweets, chocolate wrappers, decorations, and pumpkin waste. So here’s some tips for a sustainable Halloween this year and reduce the huge amount of waste produced.
