Be inspired by Ealing’s biodiversity Ealing’s biodiverse garden winners
Award ceremony
On Thursday in October 2024, the winners of the Biodiverse Front Gardens and Balconies Competition were announced at an inspirational award ceremony at the Ealing Council head office.
The room was packed with local gardening talent. Local school children to green thumbed experts who had been gardening for more than 40 years mingled and chatted. The atmosphere was one of celebration and excitement, with prize winners learning about the incredible biodiversity being nurtured throughout the borough.
Gardening for a greener future
Councillor Paul Driscoll, Cabinet Member for Climate Action spoke of the importance of communities across the borough coming together to tackle climate and boost biodiversity. He highlighted the Biodiverse Front Gardens and Balconies Competition being a brilliant example of the fun and creativity that comes with adopting greener habits in everyday life.
Paul Carter of Cultivating Ealing was an excellent compére for the evening. He shared the inspiring stories behind the entries, including one proud front garden winner who had completely replaced her front garden concrete with a stunning haven for plants, flowers and biodiversity. Another entrant had discovered the power of nature by letting an old outdoor mat transform into a wild plant micro-meadow.
