Re’Store is are a community-driven project aimed at reducing textile and household waste. They host workshops focused on sewing, repairing and repurposing items, transforming your wardrobe. Re’Store also organise vintage and resale pop up events and provide services for visible mending and upcycling.

Promote circularity in the home and encourage the repairing and repurposing of household items to create less waste.

• Promote RE-USE, RE-PAIR and RE-PURPOSING as the default driver for growth of the local high street economy.
• Support the regeneration of our high street by developing ideas that will drive footfall and engage the local community.
• Preserve and pass on the skills of talented craftspeople and
• Boost the mental health and well-being of local people by offering crafting and community activities to alleviate the symptoms of anxiety, depression and loneliness.

Mending Services: Transforming your wardrobe

Mending is a sustainable practice that involves fixing something broken or worn out. When it comes to clothing, mending refers to repairing a damaged section of the garment. You can use numerous techniques to mend your clothes, all of which help extend their lifespan and prevent them from ending up in a landfill. Additionally, mending can add a special touch to your favourite pieces, giving them a unique and personalised look.

There are several types of mending techniques that you can use to repair your clothes. Some common methods that we offer include:

1. Visible mending: This form of repair work intentionally leaves the mending visible, creating a unique and artistic touch to the garment.
2. Mending with embroidery: Embroidery threads are used to patch or cover holes and worn clothing areas, adding a decorative element to the repair.
3. Darning: A sewing technique using needle and thread to repair holes or worn areas in fabric or knitting, which is visible and adds character to the garment.
4. Patching: To cover damaged areas, we hand sew a patch onto the garment using embroidery threads, a ready-made sew-on patch, or a simple iron-on patch.
5. Invisible mending: A fabric repair technique that seamlessly re-weaves yarn into the fabric of a garment to patch a hole, repairing virtually undetectable invisibly.
