Help bring “Three Lions” sculptures to Pitzhanger Manor and Art Gallery and show the power of community, creativity and sport coming together. Matt Small’s “Three Lions” sculptures, recycled art crafted from recycled footballs. They blend art, community, and football pride. Please make a donation so that they can take Pride of place at Pitzhanger Manor and Art Gallery.
Members of our local Ealing community were invited to sign the football pieces. This showed their support for the England team as they prepared for the 2024 Euros. This interactive element allowed fans to leave their mark on the project. While Small’s use of discarded materials transforms everyday objects into a powerful symbol of national unity.
Matt created the three lions that were stationed at the Men’s England football teams hotel for the duration of the Euro football tournament. Three lions are of significance a this is the nickname given to the football team. The three lions come from the coat of arms for England and on the motif of the England football squad.
With your help bring the Three Lions home to Ealing and inspire our community with the power of creativity and sport.
Through participation and donation, big or small, we can collectively honour what makes England unique. Also showing how Ealing celebrates the same diversity through its people and communities.

Donate to this fundraiser today. This will fund workshops and provide art materials. It will also enable Pitzhanger Manor and Art Gallery create a meaningful and lasting legacy for our community.
Matt Small: Creating Art from waste
Matt Small has made an art out of creating beauty out of our waste. Primarily a painter, London based Small has a strong style, creating recycled art, often choosing discarded objects like car bonnets or old signs instead of canvas for his work.
Small explains how the urban debris he paints on becomes symbolic of the feeling of being without value. “I thought it’d be interesting to connect the two – that oven door, that shelving unit, that piece of trash to someone – I don’t see it like that, I see that it can be something beautiful and worthwhile. That’s how I see our young people too. Let’s look at their potential, at the hope that’s in all of them.”
Matt Small created a large-scale metal mosaic piece portrait of the young British entrepreneur Jamal Edwards. This is made from recycled materials. It is on display on the side of Acton Centre, W3 6LE, which has the leisure centre and library inside. Its on the Acton Mural Trail.

“This is England” was also created by Matt Small is football team portraits. ‘This is England’ features the most successful national team since the World Cup winners of 1966, after reaching the final of the recent tournament.
The set of paintings depict a group of players from a diverse set of backgrounds who not only made history with their sporting achievement but who collectively inspired the country through their example of teamwork and stance on equality, inclusivity and racial injustice.
