What a waste

The sheer volume of rubbish we produce is staggering across the UK. Instead of consuming and wasting so much, we could all, as individuals, make better choices. We live in a world where discarding broken items has become second nature. Research conducted by Imperial College London in 2024, and published by ReLondon, reveals a startling reality: Londoners threw away £1.9 billion worth of repairable items in 2023. That’s an average of over £250 worth of items per adult!

The most sustainable clothes are the ones that are already in your wardrobe, says Mary from Ealing Repair Cafe.

If we all reduce, repair and reuse what we already have, we can have a big impact on reducing waste. To find out more on the issues of waste look at our Cut the Crap campaign.

So come down to ReActon on Saturday 29 March and discover new ways to repair, reuse, and recycle. The event is open to all, and everyone is welcome.
