Pear Tree Park

Pear Tree Park, opened in July 2024, spans 49 acres in Perivale, enhancing local biodiversity with varied habitats and serving as a community recreation area. The park is the former Perivale Park Golf Course. It supports wildlife, facilitates leisure activities, and promotes well-being. The park’s development contributes to Ealing’s initiative for new parks and sustainable green space connectivity.

The park offers a welcoming green space in Perivale, offering a mix of open meadows, shaded pathways, and recreational areas. The establishment of Pear Tree Park also is a significant step toward creating a connected network of green spaces within the borough, promoting environmental sustainability and community wellbeing.

Wildlife value

Pear Tree Park is an important green space for local biodiversity, providing a habitat for a variety of wildlife. The park features a mix of wildflower meadows, native trees, and planned wetlands, which support pollinators such as bees and butterflies, as well as a range of bird species. The inclusion of a small pear orchard will further enhance the ecological value, attracting insects and small mammals.

The park’s rewilding efforts, including the planting of native shrubs and the creation of natural grasslands, contribute to improved biodiversity and climate resilience. Future plans include the introduction of wetlands, which will help manage flood risk while offering a vital refuge for amphibians, insects, and waterfowl.

A visit to Pear Tree Park, you might spot species such as robins, blackbirds, and woodpeckers in the tree canopy. While at dusk you could spot foxes and hedgehogs that roam the wider area of the park. The park plays a crucial role in maintaining urban wildlife corridors, connecting to other green spaces within Ealing’s expanding regional park network.
