Tips for Creating Hedgehog Friendly Gardens in Ealing

Join Ealing Hedgehog friends on 26 March to find out how to make hedgehog friendly gardens and other important spaces for hedgehogs. Come along at 7pm until 9pm to the Viaduct Pub, Hanwell. They would like to hear your ideas and feedback. This is open to everybody, you don’t need to be a member or volunteer of Ealing Hedgehog Friends.

The meeting is being held at The Viaduct, 221 Uxbridge Road, Hanwell, London, W7 3TD from 7 pm.

Together we can make Ealing neighbourhoods more hedgehog friendly and create happy hedgehog gardens. The hibernation for hedgehogs is over and so lets make our gardens welcome space for them. Join the Ealing Hedgehog Friends to discuss how we can all our areas in Ealing hedgehog friendly, such as:

  • Advice on hedgehog safety for garden owners. This can be done by visiting their gardens and point out areas of risks and opportunities.
  • Work with neighbourhood groups: Such as street whatsapp groups, community centres to connect gardens for hedgehogs.
  • Request drivers to slow down and watch out for hedgehogs. We had too many hedgehog casualties last year on Ealing roads.
  • Increase general knowledge about hedgehogs. What to do if you find a nest, what to feed and not to feed and other useful advice.

Ealing Hedgehog Friends on Wednesday 26 March will also give a quick overview of Ealing Hedgehog Friends’ activities last year (AGM). Plus they will share general tips and tricks for gardeners, dog owners, and people who walk in the parks.

About Ealing Hedgehog Friends

Ealing Hedgehog Friends was formed in 2023 to help sick and injured hedgehogs in and around the London Borough of Ealing. Starting with just 3 members there is now a team of more than 25 volunteers. They are a not-for-profit organisation funded solely by donations. Any donation is welcome and much appreciated to pay items such as vet bills, medicines, food and other important items for the care hedgehogs. https://ealinghedgehogfriends.com/

Pictures below show the latest Release, Moonlight for Ealing Hedgehog Friends. The garden owners went through great effort to create a ramp and talk to their neighbours about hedgehog safety. In most gardens, it does not take too much work. All it takes is a small hole in the fence (size of a CD cover) would make a great Hedgehog Highway.
