Ask your local school to apply for free trees for school grounds
New school trees planted throughout Ealing
Last year the Green School Network linked up with the Ealing Tree team to offer an amazing tree give-away to state-funded schools in Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale and Southall.
Boosting nature, pupil wellbeing and tackling climate change
Five schools successfully applied for new trees to be planted in their grounds. These 33 trees alone will lock away 825kg of carbon every year*. In addition to storing carbon to tackle climate change, the trees will provide shade, reduce surface water flooding, absorb pollution, support local biodiversity and increase pupil access to nature! What’s not to love?
SMS schools progress to net zero
Natalie Bayliss, Founding Director of Sustainability Managers for Schools CIC highlighted, “SMS has calculated the carbon footprints of all the schools we work with and agreed Climate Action Plans to reduce their emissions and boost nature. They all successfully secured these trees to enhance their school grounds and improve pupil wellbeing. The trees will also contribute to their net zero goals.”

More free trees for schools in 2025
Given the success of last year’s campaign, local schools will can once again apply for free trees for their school grounds. This year there will be no limit to the number of trees per school and repeat applications are very welcome. Schools just have to submit their application which can be found here. The deadline for applications is 23:59 1 July 2025.
