Join our nature discussion event on Saturday 28th June 2025, 12.30pm to 3.00pm in Boston Manor Park. This mixer event will be a chance to network with ActForEaling partners, hear our latest news, and learn about the amazing efforts to restore nature around the Brent River park and beyond!
We’ll have speakers from Ealing Wildlife Group, Brent River Park, and Boston Manor Park to highlight some of key nature restoration achievements and objectives for Ealing and the Brent River. Please contact us at contact@actforealing.org if you would like to attend.
- Dr Sean McCormack from Ealing Wildlife Group
- Steve Toft from Brent River Park
- Natasha Gavin from Boston Manor Park
Our speakers will be talking about the importance of the River Brent and surrounding park lands to Ealing’s green spaces and natural habitats. Some light refreshments will be served so that we can relax and enjoy listening to the presentations. After the discussion, we can enjoy a tour of Boston Manor Park’s rewilded areas and forest space along side the bank of the River Brent with Park Ranger Natasha Gavin before finishing around 3.00pm.

Speakers
Dr Sean McCormack from Ealing Wildlife Group will talk about recent successes in reintroducing Beavers into Ealing’s waterways. Beavers are a keystone species, referred to as “ecosystems engineers” and the perfect architects of healthy and biodiverse ecosystems. With their dam and canal creation, they create wetlands and deadwood which create the ideal habitats for insects, amphibians, and even water voles. They also slow the flow of waterways, preventing flooding and filtering water, improving water quality!
Steve Toft from Brent River Park will talk about how the Brent River, including the surrounding land and access to it, fits into and supports the wider Ealing community, and will explain some of the pressures faced by the river today, and the efforts to protect it. We will also touch briefly on the plans by Ealing Council to establish a new Regional Park in the area, and how extending and connecting this important green corridor will benefit the area.
Natasha Gavin from Boston Manor Park will talk about the completion of the recent restoration of the park grounds as well as introducing some of the fabulous flora and fauna that can be found in the grounds and by the river.
Outward Bound
The Boston Manor Park mixer event where we meet is a stone’s throw from the Brent River and the surrounding woodland area in Boston Manor Park. After refreshments and discussion, Natasha will take us on a short walking tour of the grounds down to the river, to learn about bees, birds, and bats, woodland foraging, as well as checking out the many Hedgehog hibernacula created in the area.
The event is free, but please contact us at contact@actforealing.org if you would like to attend.
