The Great British Spring Clean and Great Big School Clean is officially underway from 13-29 March 2026, with great events running locally around Ealing. Keep Britain tidy runs the scheme with their focus on talking local environmental damage from the ground up. So to litter pick today.
Local Ealing groups
All our brilliant local groups are doing regular litter picking and river clean-ups. You will meet new people while doing good and discover our fabulous groups of local litter tackling heroes.
- LAGER Can picks every park: With 146 parks in the London Borough of Ealing this is a big challenge for volunteers. Please join them. They are planning to repeat of 2025 pick every park which was highly successful.
- Clean up River Brent (CURB): On Saturday 28 March, meet at the Pear Tree Park Bistro for a 10 am start. We will be working in the park and along the river banks to remove rubbish, flotsam and jetsam. Great opportunity to visit the lovely new bistro too. Join CURB Facebook group for full details.
- Good Gym Ealing has regular sessions doing good while getting fit including on 24 March the LAGER CAN’s Spring Clean 2026 Haven Green, Ealing,W5 2UZ.

Why the Great British Spring Clean matters
Litter isn’t just unsightly – it has real social, environmental and economic impacts:

In the 10 years of the Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean, over 4.5million bags of litter have been collected to clean up the UK! Its the nation’s biggest mass-acton environmental campaign. Each year, more than 400,000 volunteers clear litter from our streets, parks and beaches. Ealing council has signed up as a partner.
In 2025, LAGER Can picked litter in every park. As a group 1,530 volunteer-hours (equivalent to 16.6 people each working 38 hour weeks across the project period) and collected 2,797 bags’ worth of litter and large, unbaggable items.
