Attend a screening of the documentary, the National Emergency Briefing, on 19th April at St Stephens in Ealing

St Stephens Ealing and Parents for Future are holding a screening of the National Emergency Briefing. The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing delivered in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK. See the trailer here: https://youtu.be/5x2XhvEbz24

It will be showing at St. Stephen’s Church on Sunday 19th April, at 2pm. In advance of the screening there will be a bring and share lunch which anyone is welcome to join for (from 12:30pm).

The film sets out the scale of threats to the UK from climate and nature breakdown, bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

  • 🌧 Extreme weather
  • 🍞 Food security
  • 🏥 Health
  • 💷 Cost of living

The film itself is 45 minutes long and will be followed by a short open discussion of about 90 minutes on what it means for our community and what we can do locally.

We have invited local MPs (James Murray, Rupa Huq and Deirdre Costigan) and have confirmed attendance from some. We have also invited local councillors, and representatives from other local community organisations.

Bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome.

This event is free and all are invited to attend. This is one of many community screenings being held across the UK, see here for more.

St Stephens Ealing

St. Stephen’s are a Church of England Christian community with a congregation that spans from ages 0 to over 90, situated in W13. As Christians, an essential part of their mission is ‘to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life on earth’. While this underpins all that they do, it is particularly relevant to the environmental agenda. A part of the Eco Church scheme, St. Stephen’s have recently obtained a silver Eco Church award. Over ten years ago they established People and Planet, a group which focusses on issues of social justice, peace and creation care in a Christian context. As well as meeting once a month they host events, join campaigns, promulgate information and much more. All are welcome to their gatherings and events.
