Southall Community Alliance are working with Western Road to create an urban garden for residents to enjoy.
They are holding 3 monthly community days on:
- Saturday 17th February: 10 am –1pm
- Saturday 16th March: 10 am –1 pm
- Saturday 13th April: 10 am – 1 pm
The Western Road Urban Garden will considerably enhance green space in Southall by:
- Turning it into a publicly accessible green space, creating a green oasis where none had previously existed
- Removing weeds overgrowth and plants to make the land usable for food growing and horticulture
- Planting fruit trees and fruit bushes to create a community orchard that provides a fresh fruit for local residents, the surplus of which could be provided to local food banks
- Having educational classes on site about the benefits of enjoying green space
