St Mary’s Church in Northolt is hosting a Green Fair, which is being held at the Village Green. It is their first Green Fair with local organisations coming along. If the weather is not that good the memorial hall can accommodate everyone.
The fair is taking place at the grounds of St Mary’s Church, Ealing Road, Northolt, UB5 6AA on Saturday 11th May at 12.00 noon.
St Mary’s Church Bronze EcoChurch
St Mary’s is an Bronze EcoChurch, which means they are trying to live a more sustainable life, both inside and outside the Church. EcoChurch is run by a Christian Charity, called A Rocha. The scheme has three awards, Bronze, Silver and Gold. St Mary’s are working towards Silver.
Their aims are to reduce their carbon footprint by:
- Car travel reduction
- Litter picking
- Engaging with the local communities
- Manage the churchyard to encourage wildlife
Also at the church there is film nights showing environmental films and host Earth Hour each year. Although it is a church and Christian, all the above applies to anyone of any or of no religion.
Green Fair at St Mary’s Northolt
The Green Fair will include an information area showing simple steps that everyone can take and the role of the Church in helping to combat Climate Change.
Ealing Wildlife Group will be having a stall where you will have the opportunity to learn all about their conservation projects including the Hedgehog Highways project in Northolt.
The Ealing Wildlife Group will also have available to purchase:
- Craft jewellery
- Recycled plastics
- Nature scene kitchen goods
- EWG keyrings
- Beaver and Harvest Mice prints
- Beaver greeting cards
There will also be St. Luke’s Hospice Charity (with preloved clothes, discouraging fast fashion). Little Furries Rabbit Rescue (to advise on pet care and also rescue wild animals), School uniforms for a local school plus others.
Refreshments will be available on the day including, cake, teas, coffees and catering availability for special dietary requirements including gluten free and vegan.
