Mending is better than ending
Come along to Acton Vale Community centre on Sunday 12 May afternoon for help and lessons on computer repair, electrical appliances and mending clothes. Ealing Clothes Repair cafe and West London Central Fixers will be there to help repair your loved items, thanks to Ealing Council who have arranged the event.
Why is waste a problem?

Electricals
We discard 155,000 tonnes of electricals every year in the UK, instead of reusing or recycling them. That creates e-waste – and that poses a major threat to the environment and to human health. The UK ranks second to Norway in the most e-waste produced a new study has found. West Central London fixers wants to nurture a repair culture in the community, directly addressing consumerism and throwaway society. So it’s better and less wasteful to getting the electrical items fixed.
One person said about our last session in Hanwell “I went on Saturday it’s a fantastic resource in the area. Saved an old lamp for going into landfill. If you take a lamp it’s worth having the right spare bulbs so it can be tested they don’t keep spares.”
Bring your slow or broken electronic devices, computer repair to West London Central Fixers. We will fix them FREE. Book appointment at Acton Vale Community Centre, Beech Avenue, London W3 7JZ between 1pm-4pm quickly to guarantee place or call Alex Horn on 07773898806:

Clothing
New WRAP research shows people are putting almost half (49%) of all used textiles in the rubbish bin. On average, each person in the UK throws a shocking 35 items of unwanted textiles straight into general waste every year. The UK bought 1.42 million tonnes of textiles in 2022. In the same year, we generated almost exactly the same amount of clothes passed on – 1.45 million tonnes of used textiles.
