Join the School of the Wild, at this half-day immersive workshop at Horsenden Farm. This workshop offers a unique perspective and seeks to ignite inspiration through nature-centric principles. You will foster biodiversity enhancement in your projects.
During this session, you’ll spend more time outdoors, drawing inspiration directly from nature. This will help you think differently and find practical ways to boost biodiversity while leveraging your architectural skills.
The instructors will share examples from both nature and built environments to spark your creativity. You’ll learn how certain wild animals, acting as ecosystem engineers, enhance biodiversity by creating habitats that accommodate a variety of species.
You’ll also get hands-on experience, using natural materials to apply your newfound knowledge to design and construction. The more creative and diverse our thinking becomes, the more biodiversity and health benefits we can achieve. The workshop is on Thursday, 13 June 2024 starting at 2.00 pm – 5.30 pm. It takes place at Horsenden Farm, Horsenden Lane North, Horsenden, Greenford, London, UB6 7PQ.
What is Biophilic Design?
Biophilic design builds on the principles of biophilia to incorporate elements of nature into built environments in both architectural design and interior design.
Many modern workspaces have invested in biophilic design strategies to improve the quality of life of their employees. They also meet sustainability goals and increase productivity. Entire cities have devoted their efforts to incorporating natural systems into their urban designs. These biophilic cities introduce natural stimuli into urban settings to become more sustainable and increase the lifespans of their inhabitants.
