Biodiversity is everywhere in Ealing

Last chance to win prizes for your patch of Ealing wilderness and biodiversity

Since launching the Biodiverse Front Gardens and Balconies Competition in the cold and rain a few months ago, Ealing has slowly been coming to life. This has not just been due to improvements in the weather. Residents have been sharing gardening tips. We have been admiring front garden veggie patches. Also learning about greening front drives. Plus rediscovering the power of terraces and balconies. The interest in creating wildlife friendly spaces has been infectious. This is the last week to submit your entry to win cash prizes for biodiversity!

Locals have been sharing photos of bees buzzing around front gardens, plant-filled doormats and guerrilla gardened street spaces abundant with blossoming flowers. There is so much to admire and celebrate in Ealing. With the sunshine out, now is the time to take photos of all that has been planted and nurtured. Enter your photos into the Biodiverse Front Gardens and Balconies Competition to win cash prizes and inspire the borough. (The deadline for entries is 14 July.)

A new spirit of nature connection has been unleashed in Ealing. Every corner matters to the competition organisers, ActForEaling, Cultivating Ealing and Ealing Council. It is all about celebrating life supporting spaces across the borough’s seven towns of: Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale and Southall.

Ealing residents have been rediscovering the power of nature and realising how they can contribute to inviting more biodiversity into their home spaces. Upcycled plant pots have been carefully planted up with pollinator-friendly flowers. Pupils have been getting their hands dirty nurturing veggie patches. Balconies are now part of Ealing’s wilderness providing much needed homes to local mini-beasts.

The Biodiverse Front Gardens and Balconies Competition is a wonderful chance to share how you have nurtured your wild side in support of nature this year. Please enter by 14 July.
