Climate Ed is offering a great volunteer opportunities for you to inspire children and their families to take action against climate change. By reducing their carbon footprints and leading more climate-friendly lifestyles, you can help shape a sustainable future. All the resources and training you need will be provided!
Climate Ed primary school workshop programme looks at climate change in depth. It consists of five one-hour workshops, suitable for Year 5 or 6. It doesn’t matter if students are new to climate change or not; the programme guides them through the key things they need to know.
So far, our volunteers have educated over 8000 children about climate change! Climate Ed has some great feedback from their students on the programme:

I think it was really fun and showed me how I can help myself and others to reduce how much CO2 we produce.
What does the volunteer opportunities role involve?
The Climate Ed primary school programme students learn about climate science in detail, then they learn about carbon literacy. The programme is five one-hour workshops and aimed at Year 5 or 6, with support from the class teacher. You will be based in primary schools across London, where you’ll deliver a dynamic workshop programme focused on climate change and carbon footprints. After running the workshops, you will provide feedback to Climate Ed on the programme’s effectiveness. This is finished by conducting a follow-up evaluation two months later to see the impact of your work on CO2 savings.

What do you need as a volunteer?
Climate Ed is currently recruiting enthusiastic volunteers from all London boroughs. Here’s what they are looking for:
- Experience: Ideally, you have previous experience as a teacher or workshop facilitator, especially with young people. However, this is not essential.
- Knowledge and Passion: You’re knowledgeable about climate change and related environmental issues, eager to share this knowledge, and capable of inspiring children to take action.
- Interpersonal Skills: You enjoy interacting with children, answering their questions, and engaging them in meaningful activities.
Volunteers aged 18 or over are welcome, and they encourage those with connections to schools to promote the programme. Climate Ed has a robust safeguarding policy, and all volunteers will be thoroughly vetted and require a DBS check.
