Join GoodGym for Winter Conservation at Grove Farm

Join GoodGym on Saturday 23rd November 2024 to Grove Farm to help with conservation at Grove Farm by clearing brambles in the wood anemone area. During the winter months, there is plenty of conservation work at Grove Farm Nature Reserve, creating a need for volunteers. This conservation work will help preserve this hidden urban gem, a biodiverse natural space in North Greenford. The Friends of Grove Farm need volunteers all year round to support conservation at Grove Farm. Here’s your opportunity to make a difference.

What to bring?

Conservation at Grove Farm Nature Reserve

Grove Farm Nature Reserve is open to the public to visit any time of day or year. It has been appreciated by locals as a site of recreation and natural beauty for over a century. Like a lot of Ealing, Grove Farm used to be a farm until the beginning of the 20th century. Indeed, occasionally, you can still find an ear of corn in the meadow. It is a hidden gem which provides 18 hectares of green space in North Greenford with a complex mosaic of habitats; woodland, grassland and scrub.

Parts of Grove Farm are a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) and a Statutory Local Nature Reserve (LNR) and needs conservation at Grove Farm. Grove Farm’s significance not only lies in its ecological richness but also in its strategic position as a stepping stone for wildlife between the green spaces in Harrow on the Hill and Horsenden Hill. For more details on the nature and wildlife at Grove Farm, Ealing Wildlife group has this great article.
