Mammal Conservation Talk by Prof. Fiona Mathews in Chiswick

Prof. Fiona Mathews is coming to Chiswick on 18th March, 7 pm, Christ Church, Turnham Green to give a Mammal conservation talk covering her life’s work in this area.

If you are not aware of Fiona’s work, she is a previous Chair of The Mammal Society, Founder of Mammal Conservation Europe. Plus bat expert (her passion!).

Fiona is also the author of the book written with her husband Tim Kendall “Black Ops and Beaver Bombers” which was nominated for the Wainwrights prize.  This is only a glimpse of the work Fiona has done during her career.

Wild Chiswick

Wild Chiswick is a community-based not-for-profit organisation with the aim of increasing awareness of the wildlife around Chiswick.  They also conduct research and implement ways to help vulnerable species. They also visit schools and talk about wildlife and host experts regularly to talk about wildlife. Also they help improve habitats by drilling hedgehog highways, advising on wildlife gardening, installing swift boxes and making wildlife areas.

Ealing Wildlife Group

In Ealing, we have the inspiring Ealing Wildlife Group, an ActForEaling partner. They are a community of wildlife enthusiasts protecting, encouraging and celebrating nature through education, collaboration and conservation.

With several conservation projects happening throughout the Borough. Brilliant projects like Paradise Field Beavers, Costons Lane Reserve and Hedgehog highways, plus many others.

Relying on citizen science, the dedicated volunteers, local experts and amateur naturalists collect and submit data on the biodiversity of species across Ealing.

There is no formal or paid membership, so getting involved is simple. Join the very active  Facebook Group. Or you can sign up for their newsletter. Their Events page has their volunteer days, educational and fun activities, and community and social events.
