Learn about Reuse and the Circular Economy

Pop along to ReActon this Saturday 27 September 11am-2pm to join the uniform swap or donate pre-loved Halloween costumes or pick up some free paint for a DIY project (to name a few). All of these activities are supporting the circular economy.

The circular economy is where products are used over and over again, saving money and carbon. This is changing the way to think about the “stuff” in your life, rather than buying something and then putting it in the bin, it’s about seeing the value in everything and making the most of it. This can be by repairing something or giving it to someone else or turning it into something else – the circular economy is full of brilliant businesses that are making the most of the “stuff” we already have in our lives.

Check out these examples:

  • Elvis & Kresse – making bags and accessories from old firehoses
  • Gumdrop – making bins from old chewing gum (yes – gum is made of plastic!)
  • Renee Materials – offering off-cuts, surplus stock and leftover materials for reuse. Perfect for any artist to source high-quality materials like paper, wood, textiles, leather, glass, metal, and yarn
  • Sails & Canvas – making bags from disused sails and old fabric
