Donate Halloween Costumes for a Greener Halloween

Donate Halloween costumes and accessories at one of our collection points. These costumes will go into the free Halloween Costume swap on Saturday 25th October in ReActon Hub on Stirling Road.

Lets have a sustainable Halloween by passing on and sharing our Halloween Costumes. The children’s free Halloween costume swap is on at ReActon on Stirling Road in Acton on Saturday 25th October from 11 am-2 pm.

The scary truth about Halloween is an estimated 7 million Halloween costumes are thrown away every year, adding up to 2,000 tonnes of plastic waste. That’s the same as 83 million plastic bottles. So, let’s get swapping costumes this Halloween and reduce our plastic waste.

Halloween Costume Drop off Points

We are collecting donations of clean, wearable pre-spooked Halloween costumes and accessories in various locations around Ealing and Acton until 24th October. There is a drop off donation box in each location.

Halloween Costume Donations

From Friday 10 October to Thursday 24 October drop off items during their opening hours at:

West Ealing Library, Melbourne Avenue, W13 9BT

ActOne Cinema and Cafe, The Old Library, 119-121 High St, Acton, London W3 6NA

Perivale Community Hive & Library, Horsenden Lane South, UB6 7NT

We all have Halloween costumes in the family that are too small, or you have grown bored of, so please pass them on for us to use in our swap. We are looking for Halloween outfits and accessories that are clean and in good condition. Bring children Halloween costumes to one of our drop off places around Acton and Ealing until Friday 24 October when donation boxes will be removed. Or come along with your costumes to the ReActon free Childrens Halloween swap on the 25 October.

Low Waste Halloween

This Halloween, lets all reduce our waste and make it a sustainable one. The majority of the waste is down to single use Halloween costumes with many ending up in landfill. Add to it, the sweets & chocolate plastic wrappers, decorations, and pumpkin waste. So here’s some Halloween waste busting ideas  for you. Contact us with any further tips on a sustainable Halloween.

Gorilla fancy dress costumes

Many fancy dress costumes end up in the recycling bin, such as this one at J&B Recycling Material Recovery Facility (MRF). Sadly they cannot be recycled or recovered effectively. Particularly disheartening is the number of children’s costumes, often in good enough quality to be reused, and sometimes even brand new.

This gorilla mask gave the quality control team at JB Recycling a bit of a fright! Imagine the fun someone could have had with that – it didn’t need to end up in the recycling bin! See more on this at J&B Recycling – How to Create a Sustainable Fancy Dress Costume.

Donate your pre-spooked costumes

Donate Halloween costumes to bring more fun and scares for another Halloween to our drop off points or come along Saturday 25th October to join the Halloween Costume swap from 11 am-2 pm.
