Come and join the gardeners at Chiswick House & Gardens in May half term for a two-hour session, involving a variety of enjoyable tasks to help maintain the beautiful gardens. Making the gardens into a haven for all visitors. Gardening Together as a group, fosters bonding while enhancing your gardening skills and boosting your physical and mental wellbeing. No prior gardening experience is necessary, as activities cater to all skill levels. Families and children are warmly encouraged to participate.
The kitchen garden is a 17th century walled garden. From asparagus and edible flowers to pumpkins and dahlias, they are cultivating an incredible 200+ varieties of fruit, veg, flowers and herbs in this thriving, productive space. In 2023 they donated over a tonne of nutritious produce harvested from the Kitchen Garden. This translated into over 2600 meals for charities working to address local food poverty, including The Felix Project and Surplus to Supper.
However, the Kitchen Garden is not simply a productive growing space, it is also a crucial community hub and a peaceful haven. The Kitchen Garden is open Thursday-Sunday, 10.30am-3.30pm from 28 March until 27 October 2024.
Chiswick House & Gardens is holding two Growing together sessions:
When?
Over the May half term there are two sessions:
- Wednesday 29 May 1.30–3.30pm
- Friday 31 May 10.30am–12.30pm
Where?
The sessions will take place in the Kitchen Garden and around our wider Gardens at Chiswick House and Gardens, Burlington Lane, Chiswick, London W4 2RP
Free event
This event is FREE and voluntary. This will count towards our volunteer hours contributed by our local community. Please note that this event is open to all adults and children aged 8+ and there is no charge. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. Appropriate gardening clothing and footwear is essential.

About the house and Gardens
Chiswick House and Gardens is a glorious 18th century house and 65 acres of wonderful woodland, lawns and gardens. It also has a Café, under 7s playground and working Kitchen Garden.
Chiswick House and Gardens Trust is a registered charity (no. 1109239) which manages the Grade I-listed and Scheduled Ancient Monument Chiswick House. In addition, they manage the 65-acre Grade I, award-winning Gardens and 21 listed garden buildings and statues, on behalf of English Heritage and London Borough of Hounslow.
