Visit the free Eco Art exhibition on from the 14th to 30th March 2025 from 7.00-9.00 pm at W3 Art Gallery by Francesca Busca. Eco-artivist, ‘Rubbish artist’ and mosaicist, Francesca pioneers sustainable art by creating her artworks entirely out of waste (her ‘trashure’).
Torn between optimism and surrender, she is haunted by the idea of mankind’s imminent self-destruction. Yet she believes in a future of resourceful innovation through systemic re-thinking. Her artworks are drenched in hope: every tessera she creates is in itself a protest against our disposable lifestyle, providing a different perspective on waste. The more beautiful the artworks, the clearer the message.

About Franchesca Busca
From City solicitor to eco-artivist.
Franchesa Busca has always practiced art as a way of life. Whether selling my drawings on the street or frantically modeling clay as a solicitor, art has always played an essential role in her life. Initially she chose to study and practice Law in Italy, England, France, and NYC, believing art was ‘too enjoyable to be a job’.
After having children and a visit to the mosaics in Aquileia, I finally gave in and studied Art in 2019. Throughout her career, she has explored various professions, from interior designer to in-house legal, from City Solicitor to mosaicist and lecturer. Embracing unconventional paths and pioneering endeavors has been a recurring theme. Despite achieving success, she often felt like she was inhabiting someone else’s shoes. This fueled her drive to explore and expand her knowledge.
Her eco-artivism emerged from her natural propension for art and eco-conscious upbringing. She loves to run pro bono art projects on eco-awareness and sustainability with schools, individuals, and organizations.
During the 2020 Lockdown, she embraced performance art through the Getty challenge, recreating artworks with make-do props. Four recreations were published by the Getty Museum in their “Off the Walls” book, supporting artists in need.
Francesca runs pro bono art projects on eco-awareness and sustainability. She collaborated with Living Streets, Salon Sustainability, LIGCA, Fernando Montaño, a few primary and secondary schools and most recently with The Camden Clean Air Initiative on Earthfest 2024. Following her year-long collaboration and residency with the Institute of Marine Sciences in Venice Francesca is now on a retainer with the Institute. They will collaborate with some prestigious art institutions over the next few years.
Since January 2025 she has engaged with children on eco-artivism as the Art teacher at the Italian School in London (SIAL).
